This photo has incredible subject matter showing the storefront of Point Market with butchers standing out front in their aprons along with hanging meats. The photograph shows the well-documented "Point Market" that was located at 1729 Seventh Street in Oakland, California. Point Market is referenced in numerous Bay Area city directories from the 1800s through the 1920s along with names of the butcher/proprietor over time. This image is from the time that William Long was the proprietor, circa 1910s. It can be difficult to see in the photo, but there is a small sign with text between the words "Point" and "Market" on the storefront. The first line of this sign reads "W. Long" (with the next two lines appearing to be a phone number).

SIZE: The photo area itself measures 6" by 4" in size, while the mount/backing measures 7" by 5" (although the mount was obviously cut down from a larger size at one point).

CONDITION: The stiff board mount/backing has crooked cut edges...it was cut down from a larger size to accommodate a 5x7 frame at some point in its history. The back of the mount has discoloration and staining. The photo itself is in average condition, showing some noticeable wear. The tip of the lower left corner is torn off and missing - there is also significant creasing at this lower left corner. The photo also has some spotting to the surface, a few surface impressions, and some light scratching/abrasions to the surface. See scans for an accurate depiction of condition.
