A complete four volume set of the re-set New Edition of Scottish artist Archibald Thorburns study of birds.
First published between 1915 and 1916, Thorburn redrew the plates for this edition.
Consisting of:
Volume I, in the 1931 second impression of the new edition, with a frontispiece and forty-eight colour plates. The 1925 first impression of the new edition of volume II, illustrated with a frontispiece and forty-eight plates. The 1926 first impression of the new edition of volume III, illustrated with a frontispiece and forty-eight plates. The 1926 first impression of the new edition of volume IV, illustrated with a frontispiece and forty-eight plates.
Collated, complete.
With the former owners stamp of W. E. Burridge of Chepstow to each front pastedown.
CONDITION
In the publishers original cloth binding. Fading to back strips, with bumping to spine tails. Fading to head of front board of volume IV. Otherwise, externally very smart. Ownership stamp to front pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
